can adults still get chicken pox?


can adults still get chicken pox?i had chicken pox when i was 7, last week i took care of my friends son who had chicken pox and now ive got 2 spots on my arm and 3 spots on my body could this be chicken pox? i dont feel ill at all, what do u think?

You can get them again, even if you had them before (though not very likely). That is why many high-risk adults get the chicken pox vaccine.

generally you can only get chicken pox once, but its not impossible to get it twice so you should probably get checked out

After you have chicken pox, the virus is dormant in your body. However, later on it can come back and this is called shingles. It is not life threatening, but it can be very painful. If you think you have this, then early treatment can really be beneficial.

Not usually, but if you only had a "light case" as a child and not enough to build up an immunity, you can get them again... although that case will usually be a light case also.

When in doubt, assume you do have it and use caution in exposure to infants or pregnant women who have not had them yet.
