Can I catch chicken pox from person with shingles? My grandpa found out he got shingles and he drove me to my dad's house and I gave him a hug. I've never had chicken pox and never gotten vaccinated for it. Do you think I'll get chicken pox?
P.S. His shingles are like, on his neck, and I hugged him around the waist.
Thanks!

Yes, you can.
" A person with a shingles rash can pass the virus to someone, usually a child, who has never had chickenpox, but the child will develop chickenpox, not shingles. "
This quote is from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke web site.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
