Hi there, well, it used to be one vaccine, but now they added a second one. If I were you, it would be a good idea to ask the doctor to do whats called a titer, all they need to do is get a small tube of blood from you from the lab and that is to see if your body has made it's own antibodies so that you will not get the chicken pox. If your counts come back low, then you will need a second vaccine so that you will be fully immunized. Good luck!!

It is recommended that you have 2 doses of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine. They need to be at least 1 month apart. After that you shouldn't need any more vaccine. It is one of the newer vaccines, so they are still doing studies to see how long immunity lasts, but so far 2 doses seems to be enough. Then, once you are old enough (65+) you should get the zoster (shingles) vaccine. They are hoping that the chances of getting shingles is lower if you've had the vaccine, rather than the chickenpox disease, but it is still too soon to tell for sure.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggested that from 12 months to 12 years of age all children should be two needle injection vaccine: the first needle in the 12-15 months when the injection, the second best in the 4-6 year-old needles at injection. "Of course, if a child never had chickenpox, can also be considered an adult resow varicella vaccine to prevent infection after the virus into a powerful 'transmission the original', a threat to the health of her children. But also to the prevention of herpes zoster . "Grace said, but after the first injection, at least four weeks before the second injection; recognized if doctors can also be a few years after vaccination.
