Can adults get the chicken pox vaccine?My husband said he's never had the chicken pox. I know how dangerous it can be for adults to get them watching my aunt go through it when she was in high school. I almost want to believe he has had them before and just didn't know. His parents talk about how sick he always was when he was a baby and a little kid. They said they couldn't go anywhere without him puking or pooing all over the place. When he got older he realized he's very lactose intolerant. I don't know how his parents didn't figure it out when he was still a kid instead of giving him milk all the time and letting him throw up everywhere. This is why I think he could have had the chicken pox and not even have known, knowing his parents they would have said oh its just a rash. So can he and should he get vaccinated for chicken pox?
BQ--Did you or are you getting your kids vaccinated for chicken pox? Or do you want them to develop an immunity the old fashioned way?
I can't ask his siblings because his next youngest brother is 10 years older than him. They were practically out of the house by the time he was born.

I was vaccinated as an adult. I was also a sickly child but I'm sure I never had chicken pox. You could ask your husband's parents and siblings to be sure.
My kids were vaccinated.

If he has siblings who have had chicken pox, it's most likely that he was exposed to it and have developed immunity to it. I would ask his extended family about that.
As for my children( 10 and 6) I opted to vaccinate them just before I sent them to public school which was a year ago when I returned to the workforce.

Where I live, the public schools require children to either have had the illness or the vaccine before they can start school. Since my boys were never exposed to the illness, they had to be vaccinated.
