Can anyone help me with the knowledge of chicken pox around pregnant women?I am 4 months pregnant and my son who is 13 just came down with the Chicken pox and I am so afraid that I for one, can get it again and cause harm to my baby.I wanted to know if anyone had any information or experiences with this. My mom said that I had them when I was a kid but I am still afraid that it can affect my baby not to mention that my other 3 kids can get it.What can I do to prevent my chances of getting them again and not affecting my baby. I am so scared. I read info on it and if I wasn't immune to them the baby can be born with birth defects and retarded or the baby could die. Why did this have to happen now? There are 8 cases of chicken pox going around his school and there was a kid on his bus that went to school with a fever and the onset of them. If the school would of said something I wouldn't of let him drive the bus I would of taken him. Please help me . I know this is long but I am so scared. Thank you all in advance.

Well with my first son I had chcken pox and real bad. At that time I did not tell anybody I was having a baby. I was 3 and half months along. After I knew what they were I needed to know what would happen to the baby so I got book on it and it told me that is was ok to have them in the beging and not near the end of having a baby so I went to the doctor and the doctoe told me it was the other way around. I did not know what to do. I had to go to the doctor every week and I remember going to see her and she told me that I should get rid of the baby as it was going to have a lot of problems and being 18 years old it was going to be real hard on me. So I went home and thought about it real had as I did not know what to do. The next week when I went to the doctor she asked me if I was going to get rid of the baby and I said "NO" Never the less my son is now 9 years old and there is NOTHING wrong with him at all. The doctor also told me the my son would never get them well that was a lie as about 5 years ago he got the to but it was not a bad case of them. I could go on about this for a long time but I will not...lol What I think is the best thing to do is read up on it and go to the doctor and talk to him and her about it. Just keep in mind that I had them sooooooooooooo bad and my son is 100% fine. I hope that is kinda helps ya
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
