Chicken pox exposure w/vaccination!?

Chicken pox exposure w/vaccination!?I am a senior in highschool, and my lil' sister just contracted chicken pox. She was NOT vaccinated and was exposed to the illness about 2 weeks ago, developing it a week later. I was vaccinated 10+ years ago, but have not received any of the booster shots since then.

What are my chances of getting chicken pox???? Final exams are in 3 weeks, and I cannot afford to lose a week of school right now!!! My mom is sure the vaccine will work, but we share a room together and I haven't been vaccinated in about 15 years. Also, how can I boost my immunity? i have been exposed for a week now.

You have a pretty decent chance of not getting the 'pox. Just avoid touching her, get plenty of rest, and eat well.

your vaccination 10 years ago is well and fine . just avoid in contact with her , wash hands more often . balance diet . enough rest and you need fresh air and clean and safe surroundings .

Chicken pox vaccine is now given in two doses. The second dose probably wouldn't protect you from this exposure at this point but would protect you from further exposures, though in a household member, the chances of a susceptible person getting the illness is about 90%. So there is a chance you could get the chicken pox. Most people who develop it after vaccination have a mild case. The vaccine works in about 70-75% of people with one dose. After two doses it is a lot higher.
