Could he have Chicken Pox?

Could he have Chicken Pox?On Sunday morning, we noticed that my grandson (19 months) had small, flesh-colored bumps (almost the size of goosebumps) on his chest, belly, and back. A few hours later, he had more of them and the originals had turned pink. By dinnertime, the originals were starting to resemble bisters, and he had pink(reddish) spots on his chest, belly, and back (all the way up to the botttom of his hairline on back of neck to the hips). Meanwhile, he had flesh colored bumps spreading to his arms and legs. By bedtime, he had more and all were beginning to turn pink. A few more had begun to blister. He seems to feel okay and acts normal (plays, eats, etc.) but he has been drinking more. I told my step-daughter that I believed he had chicken-pox, but she thinks it's a heat rash (the underlying skin between the bumps is not red) and his father agrees (he went to the Zoo on Friday, and spent about an hour at a fair on Saturday). Both days, it was warm, but windy. They want to wait a few days to see what it does. I INSISTED that they take him to the doctor today (and made them promise to take him) to confirm or rule out anything--even giving them the money for the co-pay and any necessary meds. My stepdaughter is in her last trimester of her second pregnancy, and she already had chickenpox. Yes, my grandson has already been immunized for measles. They have not taken is temperature, but he does not feel feverish.

Any photos I have found of the chicken-pox rash are AFTER they have turned red and blistered.

Can this be chickenpox? Can anyone tell me what the EARLY stages of the rash looks like (before blisters)? Is my stepdaughter at risk, due to exposure, to infecting her unborn daughter?

Thank you for any input.
He is going to the doctor today.

take him to the doctor. don't rely on people's opinions to truly diagnose a child's health problem. chickenpox around pregnant women can pose a serious health threat. people can get chicken pox more than once. seek medical attention

Chicken pox first appear as a blister, then they turn into a scab. First symptoms are general feelings of being unwell and flu like symptoms. So the pictures you have seen are how they appear at first.

Sounds like measles or prickly heat or Rosioli..(spelling of this is wrong sorry) I was told That chicken pox's start behind the ears as it's the warmest place..measles and prickly heat are small red dots all over the body and they do not blister.
Well, you will know all when she gets back from the doctor.
