I just need to know the complications that could result from chicken pox during pregnancy.?My sister in law had chicken pox 2 weeks ago and just found out that she is pregnant. She was actually expecting her period on the same day the rashes started to appear.We are very much worried because we don't know if the virus has affected the fetus. please share your insights on this. thanks.

I've heard that if women get chicken pox or misuls or mumps when pregnat that it can cause the baby to be blind you may want to check with the doc as soon as possible.

No, as far as I know that's only German Measles (which are different than normal measles). The placenta is very good at protecting your baby.
But ask the Doc if you're not sure but I'm certain it's not a problem - other disease entirely.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
