Is it safe for a 8 month old baby to have the chicken pox?My daughter caught the pox, she is covered from head to toe, and it looks terrible, other then being a little bit fussy shes fine! Is it risky for a baby to get chicken pox?

My dd had the pox around that age too. I did take her to the ped just to make sure everything was o.k. I had to watch for high temps and in case of scratching infintigo(sp). Oatmeal bath will do wonders for soothing. I am actually glad she had them as a baby rather than a child. It was easier to manage. I would just let my ped know.

no, better now and to be totally immune than to get it later as an adult when it could kill her. It is a good thing to get it this young, she won't remember it and she will be immune. Just call your doc and ask what to do to make her more comfy. My oldest two, I went searching to try to get them to catch it so they could be immune naturally, they made them get the immunization, which is only good for 20 years...so when they are 22 and 23 they will no longer be immune and it is deadly for adults to catch the chicken pox. It makes no sense to me, so as hard as it is, be glad she is getting it now. Good luck

I had the chicken pox when i was 6 months old.
I had it really bad too, my mom said she counted 500 chicken pox on one foot.
Just make sure she stays cool, the chicken pox attract to the warm spots. I had so many on my feet was because my mom always had me wear really really warm socks.
I would still suggest taking her to the doctor since she is so young.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
