Can a nursing mother carry chicken pox?I'm a nursing mother and a lady in my office has chicken pox. I have had chicken pox before so I can't get them. But i want to make sure i can't carry the virus to my infant.

Yes, she and you can carry the virus. The baby couold get the pox. Your antibodies will naturally go to the infant, which is good. Keep nursing to deal with other common infectious illnesses too, by increasing the babies' chances or fighting off diseases. Formula-fed infants fare less well, even poorly, and have a higher mortality rate than breast fed babies.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
