chicken pox and pregnancy?

chicken pox and pregnancy?my daughter has chicken pox, i have had chicken pox and shingles, is it safe to visit my eldest daughter who is 36 weeks pregnant, she has had chicken pox

Answer by Orinoco
It probably IS safe

If your eldest daughter has had chicken pox, she would be making antibodies to the virus (Varicella). The antibodies she makes will be protective to the baby in her womb.

However, there _have_ been few instances where a person who has previously had chicken pox can catch it again! In most cases, the second time around the illness is much milder.

If you have doubts, you should probably talk it over with your pregnant daughter in the first instance.
