have you ever had vaccines during pregnancy?I went to the doctor today and she reviewed.my blood test results and for some reason I'm immune to rubella & chicken pox??? I have had all my shots as a kid so I don't know why I'm immune to any of this. I had chicken pox when I was 6... Is it safe to get vaccinated during pregnancy? I keep hearing from my mother that it will make me very sick. Has anyone had this happen?? Advice??
I must of worded this wrong lol basically she told me I can get rubella and chicken pox eventhough I had all my shots. She thinks the chemotherapy I took in the past had something to do with why I no longer have the antibodies.... If it isn't safe then why is she wanting me to get the shots in 4 weeks??? I'm so confused....

No doctor will vaccinate during pregnancy.

Well, what I mean was most known vaccinations. Because they are made with live viruses. Which can in turn be harmful to an unborn baby. Like the ones your baby will receive after birth,if you decide to vaccinate.
The CDC recommends that all women who will be pregnant during the flu season receive a flu shot. That is considered safe, because the virus is dead.

immune doesn't it mean your body can fight it? NO it isn't safe to get vaccinated for CHICKEN POX WHILE PREGNANT! DANGEROUS HAZARDOUS MIX! Check with your doctor again hon.

I don't understand, if you are immune, means it's okay, you don't need the shot. If you are immune means you've either had it in the past or you're already vaccinated, so you don't need to do it again. My doctor has only made me have 2 doses of the tetanus shot, I'm not really sure what it's for, but I hear it's pretty common.

No, immune is GOOD! Immune means you won't/can't get the disease. Your body has the correct antibodies in it's blood from having encountered the virus before either as a disease or as a vaccination, and will fight off any more it encounters, so you will never fall sick to the disease.
You are immune to chicken pox because you had it already, so you are immune and you're safe, you won't get it again.
You are immune to rubella because you probably had an MMR vaccine, which is Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccination. So the reason you are immune to all this is exactly BECAUSE you had your shots.
You don't need to get vaccinated to these because you are already immune!
But also, no, it is not safe to get vaccinations to anything while pregnant.
EDIT: Ahhhh, that additional info makes more sense!! :) This may be a case where the risk in getting the disease outweighs the risk of taking the vaccine. Some things like anti-depressants aren't safe to take during pregnancy, but if the mother is at risk for hurting herself or the baby, then it's worth the possible risk by taking the anti-depressants.
You doctor may have decided that it's worth the risk, but it's up to you if you want to do it or not.

If you're immune, that's a good thing, it means it wont infect you. I think you're confused on the terminology the doc used. Sounds like you're in the clear.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
