i'm very worried my 6 week old is going to come down with chicken pox :(?anyone know someone who's little one (VERY little, like mine) had chicken pox....and how did it go?
my mom came and visited about 3 days ago and turns out she has shingles.
she didn't touch the baby, but did cough very near her. she also hugged my 3 year old...but he's had the first vaccination for chicken pox...so i'm guessing he'll be fine. my daughter (the 6 week old) is exclusively breast fed and i'm immune to chicken pox, so i'm hoping were going to avoid this all together...but anyone know how a newborn with chicken pox might play out?
i'm really worried about both kids, but the newborn more, cuz she is SO small.

The odds of your baby catching chickenpox from the shingles virus are very very low. She'd have to have direct contact with an open sore for it to even be possible.

call the babies doctor on monday and they will let you know.

There are slim chances she could get them as a newborn. And if she did happen to get it, it might not be so healthy, but the baby has the strength to fight it off. If she does, call her Ped. and ask if there are serious concerns.

I have not heard of a newborn with chicken pox, (I am also a new young mom) but I would call the doctor asap. Try to relax over the weekend. If you get too anxious, maybe you could call your dr. My dr office has an "on call" number where one of the dr's in the practice is available.
