my boys both got it and it isn't a big deal. Just keeps them from getting chicken pox as bad if they are exposed. Chicken Pox can be harmless for most but for some they can get it so bad that it can cause them to be in the hospital so it is just better safe than sorry when it comes to MMR and Chicken Pox vaccines.

DONT GET IT!!!!
With the vaccine, he could get the Pox anyway. Getting the actual illness is really good for his immune system. And its considered to be one of the small viruses our body is SUPPOSED to go through (in order to build our system and learn to fight bigger viruses).
Many will disagree, but remember, their info comes from their doctor (the one who gets PAID to administer the vax)

Get the vaccine, it would reduce his chances of getting scars from the disease, or worse, shingles later down the road.

My son will be going for his 12mo check up next month and I don't want him to have it. If kid's do get it, it only happen's once in their life. I think just about everyone has had it. One time, not a big deal.....

Just thinking out loud here, but isn't a vaccine a small, harmless amount of the actual vaccine? So getting the vaccine doesn't necessarily mean that you won't get the illness, it just helps your body "prepare" for it so it can fight it better.
You have to be careful of people who are so outspoken of their opposition to such vaccines simply because they want their child to get the illness. There are actually people who have "chicken pox parties" so their kids can get it and get it over with.
If it is true that the vaccine will just help the body defend itself better when the child does get the chicken pox, then I'd say go for it. They're gonna get it, and the easier it is on them, the better. It is not necessary to get seriously ill and torturously itchy in order to get the protective effects of having experienced it.
Plus, what if your child never gets the chicken pox? If they didn't even have the vaccine, won't that put them at greater risk in adulthood (which is when it is more dangerous to get chickenpox)?
Read the responses you get on here, but also do some factual research. Read articles that are all for it and all against it so you get all the info.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
