Chicken pox are contagious even before the sores come out. They are contagious until they dry up

Unless you held the baby, you won't get it.
Chickenpox is contagious from 48 hours before the first spot appears until all of the spots have crusted over. Children are usually allowed to return to daycare and schools after the 6th day of the onset of the appearance of the rash even if all of the spots haven't crusted over as long as the un-crusted spots are covered by clothing. At this stage of Chickenpox, you need to have direct contact with the sores to be exposed to it.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
