Why is it that I do not dream?

Why is it that I do not dream?Well, I cannot dream despite what people say to the contrary, that everybody dreams.

I cannot remember the dream or dream(s) even after doing the exercises. I've been under anesthesia before as well and it felt like nothing. I only remember hearing voices around my bed and then feeling groggy and awakening. When I fall to sleep I don't have any thoughts, now, I understand the way I explain this may not be very informative, but I really do mean I have absolutely NO thought. I know some people may not understand what I am saying, but bear with me here and try to help me out.

It's exactly what you think, a zombie-like state. I find I am often like this, I can stare blankly for hours and have no thoughts. I find myself going through my day to day life like this also. I don't think, I just do things, I do know when I am doing things and that subconsciously my brain is firing off, but, I don't have any conscious thought while performing my subconscious thoughts/tasks. This is very difficult to explain exactly what I feel and how I live day to day because I don't have many thoughts.

Some of you may be thinking to yourselves; "Well, you're thinking now, because obviously you are writing this question."- Sort of. I am blankly staring at my computer screen, and typing with no emotional feelings going through my head or any other thoughts.

I talked to my family about this and only my mother says she has the same thing going on. My other family members all have regular constant day to day thoughts, like hearing yourself in your head saying; "Yeah, I like the song.", things like that. -I don't. I'm just blank. I do things and it is like watching a movie, or having your body move and perform daily tasks on its own. That's all I can describe, really. I don't know exactly how else to explain this...

I do have some neurological problems, I'm not a hypochondriac, nor do I suffer from any other mental defect or illness and I rarely ever catch the cold or any other viruses. (That I know of, I've been sick 4-5 times in my life my family tells me. Food poisoning twice, a spider bite and the chicken pox. I've also had third and fourth degree sunburns covering my body with bleeding blisters, and the only thing wrong with me that I know of neurologically is my nerves and muscles rapidly fire off and have "muscle seizures/sporadic twitches".)

Respond with whatever you believe may be the cause or help me, so far the internet has yielded no insight into my problem and I don't have the money to seek further professional help right now.

I've never heard of that... I always have something on my mind. I think it's hard to give advice on this. Mmmm >.<. I can answer questions about dreaming though. Everyone dreams, but the ability to remember your dreams is often lost due to poor sleeping habits or because you don't pay heed to your dreams. You can start trying to recall them by having good sleeping habits and keeping a dream journal. In the dream journal, write whatever you feel or remember dream as soon as you wake up in the morning. Eventually you'll get better at it. Some people even leard to control their dreams (lucid dreaming).

I'm sorry this doesn't relate to your issue. I'll ask around.

that first answer was really rude.... but, that is really creepy. i think it might (i know u didnt mention it but..)maybe a stress level? or anxiety? but, i really dont know that much about this because i have only really seen this in movies. i have heard of some other person having it, but i dont think it was a big deal. i should have kept that paper. and, i should have read the whole thing. whatever you want to say it is, i am 100% sure u r not going crazy. im just saying that because im sure somebody on here will sooner or later. but really, i would see doctor after doctor after doctor until u can really find out what is wrong. if i were u, i really wouldnt come to yahooanswers. bcus obviously, like the very first answer, people will be very immature. ppl will even feed u a bunch of stuff that isnt true. just get into somebody that actually knos wat is going on.

it could be the fact that you are not allowing yourself to dream like some one stated before 9lucid dreaming) however I oftentimes have the same problem it's rare that i do dream and when I do it's probably weird and confusing. That does not mean that something is wrong with you though
