Could this be chickenpox? My 22 month old was exposed to the chicken pox last Saturday (1week ago). The boy that had the chicken pox had been fully vaccinated, as had the boy he got it from. My daughter has not been vaccinated w/ this shot. We would prefer her to get the virus so that she would get natural lifetime immunity.
On thursday (3 days ago) she had a DtaP shot. She is having some mild reactions such as tenderness at the injection site and crankiness. Since that shot, and since she was exposed to chickenpox, she's developed what looks like a yeast infection, she's run a very low fever, she's having nightmares and not sleeping well and she's developed what are either fever blisters or pox on her lips and in her mouth.
Have you ever heard of chickenpox showing up in only 7 days? Have you heard of them showing up in the mouth first? Could the shot have lowered her immunity so that the incubation period is less?

All that is possible, she may have the chickenpox and in the mouth and throat is bad,if she does you need to protect the eyes also not to be in a lot of light.

If they are in the mouth it could be systemic and I would take your child to a pediatrician.
Anything involving the mouth or respiratory track of a child should be seen.
