Do eye viruses have long term affects?I recently suffered from a virus that caused body aches, high fever (101.3), chills, vomiting, violent headaches, and terrible throat pain. I went to the doctor and she told me it was a virus. The next day I lost all the symptoms except for the violent headaches (that seemed worse) and severe coughing fits. This continued until the next day when I got ear pains, they left the following day but I woke up to find my eyes swollen shut completely. There was heavy discharge from them and they were VERY red. I went to the doctor and she told me it was pink eye, but I was skeptical because I didn't think it could occur in both eyes simultaneously. She gave me drops telling me they would help. The next day (today) my eyes are no better and we contacted an eye doctor and she said it wasn't pink eye but a virus in the eyes and that it was extremely contagious and there was no medicine for it- it should heal on its own. I've never heard of such a thing before, but I'm worried that there could be long term affects with a having a virus/infection in your eyes (kind of like how after you get the chicken pox, you later stand a high risk of developing shingles). Am I only over reacting, or is it something serious.

Ok, Doctors are SO stubborn and you really need to see a few of them and get their opinions....
You're like me, you over react and obsess, its horrible to be like that.
But, I suggest like i said talk to a few other doctors. See an allergist too, its very hard to get an appointment...but as you said in the long run, they could check if its allergies...or something, see if its ok. Or an eye doctor of course!!
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
