Chicken pox is the herpes zoster virus. Unfortunately you have the same chances of getting ill from them as anyone else, your age is irrelevant.

Your chances are directly related to your exposure to chicken pox.
I would encourage you to make sure to avoid children who have it, as Chicken Pox as an illness is more serious as you get older, and can become shingles.
There is a vaccine, and if your in college you probably should get it.
My grandmother just had it for the first time, she's in her 90s, and it developed into shingles.

You mean chicken pox, lol. Anyways. I'm not sure of the chances of getting them since you didn't get them when you were younger, but this does put you at a really high risk of catching it while you are around people that do.
I read up while I was in my microbiology class that if you get them when you are older it is far worse than getting them when you are young due to it forming into shingles which is an extremely rare occurrence in young children.
You might talk to your physician and see about a chicken pox vaccine not sure if it's the right way to approach it, but bring it up next time your at the doc's!

It's chicken pox. And you can get vaccinated against it
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
