NEWBORN AND CHICKEN POX!!!?

NEWBORN AND CHICKEN POX!!!?my 4 year old has chicken pox!! it appeared today so this is the first day and she has about 20-30 pimples on back and chest. BUT i have a 2 month old who only had his birth shots and is scheduled to get his 2 month shots next week. i googled and read something about it being fatal so i am VERY PARANOID right now. my daughter got her shot for chicken pox a year ago. what should i do and what would happen to my newborn?

Try to keep your older child and your newborn separated as much as possible. Wash your hands between handling each child. Sterilize dishes, clothing, and wipe surfaces with Lysol wipes. Then ask the pediatrician what else you should be doing.

1st of all take them BOTH to a dr and see if it IS pox... second of all send the baby away.. the less exposure the best but honsetly people are contagious before the spots apear, so if sending the baby to grammys for the night i would tell the 4 year old to not come with in 10 feet of the baby, if you can tell her shes sick and need to rest and put her to bed with Tv and other fun stuff away from the baby that would be the best...

keep a eye on them both over night, and get a DRs appt 1st thing in the morning...

hopefully it isnt the pox.... but honestly, i had my pox shot then a year later caught the pox from a friend.... got better and 4 mths later got the pox again so bad it almost killed me... so even the shot and the 1st exposure wasnt enough to build the immunity...

Keep them apart. Make sure you wash your hands before handling the baby. I would also contact the on call dr and see what they recommend. When my daughter was 2, she had poison ivy, I had to keep her from the baby. Is there any way she ( the 1 w chicken pox) stay with a relative. When my daughter was 5 she had them, and I was told she wasn't contagious when the sores crusted, but I would still contact your doctor. It's odd that w the shot she still contacted them, although I know some kids in public school who were put out until they got the second dose. Best advice: keep them apart, lots of hand washing and call the DR. I agree, sanitize things your 1 w the pox touches or has been.

Did you ever have the chicken pox when you were little? If so there is a good chance your 2 month old still has immunity to the virus which is called passive immunity and it typically lasts for about 6-12 months after birth.

You should try your best to keep your older child away from the baby for 7-21 days or until the pimples/blisters start going away as well. I know it may be hard but it would be for the best. Just watch the little one for any signs they might be coming down the the virus (ie fever, irritability, etc.)

more proof that vaccines dont hellp. You should look up vaccine risks on google. Passive immunity should prevent it from spreading to baby though, if you had it in your past
