Can you get pityriasis rosea more than once? Note: NOT ROSACEA! That is a different thing.?

Can you get pityriasis rosea more than once? Note: NOT ROSACEA! That is a different thing.?My daughter got this thing that I thought was chicken pox back in november. When I took her to the pediatrician, she told me it was pityriasis rosea, and since it was caused by a virus, there was nothing that could be done for it. 3-4 weeks later, it was gone, but shortly after, I developed it myself, and had it about 6 weeks. It went away completely, but then about 5 weeks ago I noticed a little spot that looked familiar to me on my chest. within a couplle of weeks i had the spots again only this time it was confined to my chest area especially under the breasts. Well, being a total hypochondriac this has really made me freak out because i have heard on one hand that you can get it many times, but it seems that the medical websites say you get it once and thats it...Anybody know? by the way the spots are pretty much fading now.
anyone? again Not Rosacea!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I understand it is you get is once (primary case) and generally, about 3 weeks, later it shows up again (secondary).
I cannot find any articles about it being a rash you can get many times over. However, after this you can get additional rashes that may be similar but will not be Pityriasis Rosea.

so hopefully this answers your question a little bit..or at least i can relate...
i got this when i was in middle school and several times after that but i think its in combination with scarlet fever.whenever i get a raging fever it triggers scarlet fever which then triggers my rash(pityriasis rosea).sometimes when my skin get really hot, like in the shower, there is barely a show of the rash.red or purple and looks kinda lacey.ive had three bad occasions of this over ten years, whers it is full body or majority of it.i also wish i knew more but i hope my personal experience helps with yours..i think we are stuck with it?

The answer is yes. It is an infection to which most people develop resistance with one exposure. However, on rare occasions people do not develop complete resistance and can have recurrences.
