Chicken pox duing pregnancy?

Chicken pox duing pregnancy?I'm just probably paranoid....but I think my housemate is getting chicken pox. I haven't had it in my life and I am worried that if I do get it, it will harm my baby.

Is there any way that this can be prevented?

I am 11 weeks pregnant.

Answer by summer7

Chicken pox in pregnancy can be very hazardous to the baby. Talk to your doctor asap about getting a vaccine or about what else can be done to prevent you from getting it.

It is very dangerous and you should stay away from your housemate, the March of Dimes says though that if you contract it early like before 20 weeks that there is a very small risk that it will hurt the baby....so don't freak out to much, just steer clear!!
