Chicken Pox Vaccination for infants?

Chicken Pox Vaccination for infants? My wife said they gave our daughter a Chicken Pox vaccine today. I hate over-vaccinating children and I wish she would have researched this more before allowing it. Neither of us knew it was on the list of things to give her (she's 1 year old)

Help me understand the point of this vaccination. Getting the chicken pox is no fun, but it's not fatal, and in most cases you never get it again. Wouldn't you think the risk of vaccinating outweighs the risk of bad effects from chicken pox?

Help me understand

getting the vaccine means they will either not get it or will only get a mild case of it. Problems associated with it other than the usual scars on the face etc can be read here.http://www.dhpe.org/infect/Chicken.html and are basically as follows: The most common complications of chickenpox are skin infections and pneumonia. Other complications are encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) and hepatitis. Chickenpox can also lead to severe problems in pregnant women, causing stillbirths, birth defects, or infection of the newborn during childbirth

you don't really have a choice here...the chicken pox vaccine is in a mix with other essential vaccines so just ommiting one is not an option.

Only imagine that if your daughter does not get it as a child and gets it as an adult and pregnant.... is there anything more dangerous that you could think of? Plus, both my kids had the vaccine and nothing happened to them.

Defiantly, I don't like the whole over vaccinating thing anyways, but my son definitely wont be getting the chicken pox vaccine because I feel there is no need for it and my partner feels the same. I know I'm gonna get loads fo thumb downs but I'm just answering your question with what I think and feel

Chicken pox CAN be fatal in rare cases and there is usually an underlying problem when it is fatal-

I am against the Varicella inoculation- it's loaded with mercury-
