Fever Blisters or Chicken Pox?

Fever Blisters or Chicken Pox?What is the difference between fever blisters & chicken pox. I think I have fever blisters, but not sure. I had chicken pox when I was young, but I know you can still get it. I developed this blister in the outer corner of my eye and I haven't a clue how it popped up. My eye is puffy now & it looks like the blisters are popping up on my cheek & above my lip now. One of my lymph nodes is swollen also and I get that tingling feeling from the blisters.
Thank you for all your great answers. I'm pretty sure it isn't shingles, my hubby had it & will never forget what it looked like or what pain he was in he still has nerve damage. I'm pretty sure it's fever blisters/cold sores & it isn't fun. I have them around my mouth too & in my mouth. Hopefully I can get a hold of some abreva or something. I don't have health insurance right now hubby's work in HR is very slow.
Swelling of lymph nodes is one of the symptoms of fever blisters though & I have other symptoms

I doubt you have chicken pox. It sounds like an allergic reaction. It is too close to the eye to take a chance. Go to a doctor asap. In the mean time, do NOT rub or scratch....you will only spread it. You don't mention your age, but a school nurse or medical clinic can take care of this. Get going!

Chicken pox is a contagious disease and has characteristics of blisters appearing in crops over several days. The first, or queen blister, tends to crop up on the trunk and tends to be there for a day or so prior to any others appearing. True chicken pox tends to be a one off illness.

However, the virus can remain dormant within the body, emerging during times of stress or illness and fulminating in the form of Shingles...also the herpes simplex virus.
This presents with blisters, which are painful and tend to follow the natural line of a nerve line. For example, the eye, down the cheek and into the jaw. Or around the rib cage, or even around the groin at the top of the leg.
This condition is very painful and the blisters can become infected.

On the other hand it could be a simple skin reaction. However, i am concerned that you feel a lymph node palpable. I suggest you seek medical advice as the sore is near the eye and on the face and you should not ignore anything of this nature in this area.

Good Luck

I tend to agree with my fellow nurse. Because of the eye involvement and the lymph node, wherever it is, I think you need to be seen by a doctor. The sooner, the better.
