How did you cope with PUPPP!?I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I found out yesterday that I am having a boy. I hear that 70% of women who have PUPPP were pregnant with boys. (their fetal DNA is a skin irritant to the mother around 35 weeks)They say that PUPPP usually starts with just an itchy belly, then you break out in these hive like things along your stretch marks. I've read on like every site and they say its not harmful to baby or mom. BUT, I go to a local clinic and don't have an ACTUAL doctor, so I have to wait until Monday to be prescribed any steroid creme. What helped you cope with PUPPP? Right now I'm using the calamine lotion or A&D Ointment. Now it seems like neither is working now. The first time i used A&D, it worked like a charm, but the next day I was ready to rip my stomach off my body. I broke skin itching my stomach with my loofah. I took an oatmeal treatment bath which made it itch more!! that's when i broke skin. I was in the tub crying my eyes out and my husband felt so bad. He didn't know what to do. I have had a exciting pregnancy, but this is the worst of it! They say its kinda like chicken pox for pregnant women, cause u dont get it again. What are some ideas?

Have you been diagnosed with PUPPP, or are you assuming you have it? The reason I'm asking is that there is another condition that causes pregnant women to itch like crazy called cholestasis. Cholestasis is a little more problematic than PUPPP, so make sure you get checked for both. Another symptom of cholestasis is that your stool gets very light colored. good luck

go to the pharmacy and ask if it is okay to use hydrocortizone over the counter when you are pregnant...if you are then buy some there. It's a steriod creme available over the counter.

I thought I had this too... it turned out to be that I was allergic to some of the other meds that they were giving me. I took Benadryl and it REALLY helped!! Also just some anti-itch ointment helped too. Sometimes I would just take tylenol PM and put on the ointment and try my hardest to get to sleep!

I had PUPPP with my first and it was girl but it is horrible to control, there isn't much they will give you just hydrocortizone cream but even that doesn't help much. Try taking a hot shower until the itching stops then let it air dry don't use a towel that helped for me sometimes I would take 5 showers a day but you do what you can! I know this isn't very good news, best of luck to you!

Hey hun, do you actually have a rash with this? As I agree with the 1st poster if its very bad it is possible its cholestasis, i have this now and had it in my last pregnancy. If you have no rash/hives please get them to do bloods for LFTS AND BILE ACIDS. As for the itch, sarnia lotion, cool bath/shower
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
