my mother in law had VIS Shingles ?????

my mother in law had VIS Shingles ?????She has or had VIS Shingles, which is call "the chicken pox of old people" the doctor told her that she can not get close to me at all.... this was around 3 weeks ago.... now her doctor says that I am safe to get near her (I haven't seen her for almost 4 weeks now) Does anyone knows if I am really safe? She is not contagious anymore after 3 weeks???? Please let me know

Another thing: VIS Shingles will only be contagious to people that they have not yet got chicken pox and to pregnant woman.
I am almost 13 weeks pregnant

Shingles are a form of herpes, just like chicken pox. They are contagious just before and during an outbreak. She should know the tell-tale tingle sign now, make sure she's not having that or an outbreak before you get close.

After a certain time diseases are no longer contagious, and I would believe the doctor about the length of time. Though, if you don't get along with her...then give it another 2 weeks just to be certain ;)

It is unsafe when she is having a flare up to be around her. She gets a rash on her skin similar to chicken pox and once those are gone you are fine to be around her
