It doesn't lead to anything, but it's connected with a number of other diseases, most notably shingles. Chicken pox is also known as the third herpes virus. Below I listed a wiki page explaining more about chicken pox. Hope that helps.

Once the initial infection heals, the virus remains in the body, dormant. In times of stress and/or lower immunity, it can become active and cause a very painful disease called shingles. Shingles is contagious to people who have not had chicken pox, causing chicken pox in them.
The initial infection of chicken pox can have complications especially in people who are beyond puberty. It can cause bacterial skin infections, neurological problems, transient hepatitis, and life-threatening respiratory problems.
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
