what type of vaccine is does chicken pox have? what is the recommended schedul of vaccination for chicken pox?Are booster shots required? does vaccine produce any side affects?

Answer by Celes Chere
Um....The only side effects I can think of is pain/burning/tingling/itching/irritation at the injection site.

Someone with an extremely low immune system might even get sick off of it, but I've never heard of this.

And yes, booster shots are a requirement (if you're talking about a child going to school) So are the MMR shots (measles, mumps, rubella)

Should answer your questions.

Edit: lol@No-one: Not sucrose, MSG and gelatin! Aborted baby cells!? *nom nom nom*

No cells make it to the final product and everything is in safe amounts.

Edit: That's a thumbs down for trying to pass off vaccine ingredients as scary. I know what's in vaccines. You're weren't my "first."

Did you know that sucrose, if taken in high amounts can cause obesity, diabetes, and heart disease? Toxic, toxic stuff. Some people even sprinkle it on their cereal! The horror. . .the horror.

The Varicella vaccine is given to protect against Chicken Pox. It is a 'live-virus' vaccine and is given in two doses. The recomended schedule calls for children to receive their first vaccination at age 12-15 months with a second dose at 4-6 years. If someone has not received the vaccine (or has not had natural chicken pox) they may receive the vaccine at any time during adolescence or as an adult. For people age 7-12 years, the first dose should be followed by a second dose that is recomended to be given 3 months later (however a one month interval can be accepted as valid). For people age 13 and older, the minimum interval between dose one and two is 4 weeks. Although the vaccine is not 100% effective, for those who do get chicken pox after being vaccinated, it is a much milder case. Side effects can be soreness or swelling at the site of injection (1 out of 5), fever (1 out of 10 or less) and a mild rash (1 out of 25 or less).

Children usually receive their MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) vaccinations at the same time as their Varicella vaccinations. Both are given in two doses and both are live-virus vaccines. Both may be given at any time later in life should they not be received as a child.

In addition to varicella live virus, you will also be injected with phosphate, sucrose, monosodium glutamate (MSG), processed gelatin, fetal bovine serum, guinea pig embryo cells, albumin from human blood, and human diploid cells from aborted fetal tissue.

If you wish to know about any other vaccines, here's a link http://www.informedchoice.info/cocktail.html

Just so we're clear - is that a thumbs down because you didn't like finding out what goes into this vaccine? If so, then I'd have to agree with you - very unpleasant, isn't it. Nasty even.

EDIT: Nate - What makes you think I'm trying to scare people? I've simply listed the ingredients - I think they're nasty, but what other people think is up to them. However, just for your information, and because you seem so up yourself, here's a list of pediatricians, family physicians, brain surgeons, and professors of pathology, chemistry, biology and immunology who all disagree with you. I've just copied and pasted this from a previous answer of mine so you'll probably find it elsewhere, but whatever:

The link Nate has provided will answer most of your questions. Serious side effects are extremely rare, the most common side effect is a little redness and soreness at the injection site. Approx 1 in 10 children and 1 in 20 adults develop a mild rash.

In the UK, this isn't a routine vaccine, however millions have had this vaccine in the US and Germany with no problems. The vaccine is very effective and generally very well tolerated. It's usually a two dose schedule.

Note that "No one" thinks that listing a bunch of MDs, Scientists and quotes is evidence. Science does not work by credentials, it works by evidence. The evidence shows vaccines are safe and effective. You have problems because your position is based on emotion, which is why you are unwilling to change your position when presented with robust evidence that contradicts your beliefs.

"just so we're clear - is that a thumbs down because you didn't like finding out what goes into this vaccine?"

No, we already know what is in the vaccine. The TD is because your answer is meaningless. Identity of a chemical isn't what makes it harmful, it is the dose. And you ARE fear-mongering. - You're hoping that by mentioning these ingredients it will make the average person uncomfortable and scare them out vaccinating.

"If so, then I'd have to agree with you - very unpleasant, isn't it. Nasty even.""

The diseases vaccines prevent are far more unpleasant.
