If you can be vaccinated against a disease and still get the disease then what was the point of getting vaccinated??? Does that even make sense to you?

You don't know what you need to know about herpes zoster. Herpes zoster is "shingles". The varicella zoster virus (VZV) that causes both chicken pox and herpes zoster isn't transmitted just be touching someone having an h. zoster outbreak and it isn't transmitted by casual contact either. It's transmitted by direct and/or prolonged contact with the drainage from erupted blisters. If you've never had chicken pox or have never been vaccinated against chicken pox, then yes, you can pick up VZV and develop chicken pox.

Chicken Pox vaccine gives fairly good protection against the disease but still some people get it even after vaccination. But it is usually a mild infection.
So be careful when you are near your mum. Chicken pox is usually spread through air. It can also be spread from the papular eruptions. If you get it, it will be after 14 to 21 days after your mother started the disease.
So don't be too much scared but be careful. Even if you get it, most probably it will be a mild one.
