that puts you at the higher risk than someone who has HAD the vaccine and/or the pox.... even those that had the chicken pox now need a booster vaccine against the shingles to avoid them.... I had the pox as a kid and I just got my shingles shot.... if you've never had the chicken pox and you're anywhere around kids, I suggest you get the chicken pox (not the shingles) vaccine like it says at the end of this link's page.... it's going to save you a lot of pain and misery!!...sorry, I mis-typed......

If you've never been exposed to the chickenpox virus, either naturally or from the chickenpox vaccine, you cannot get shingles. However, a lot of people have had asymptomatic cases of chickenpox, or mild cases that they didn't notice or remember. Those people can still get shingles.

I notice some other people have given the opposite answer. But think about it logically--shingles is the reactivation of the chickenpox virus in the body. If there is no virus in the body, either from natural exposure or the vaccine, there can be no reactivation of it.

No. Shingles is the re-activation of the chicken pox virus. If you've never had chicken pox, you can't get shingles.

Edit: Sweetie, I don't think thats what she's asking.

Answer by LINDA R
Rhianna is correct. If you have never had chicken pox, you can not get shingles.
