Has anyone else held a "Pox Party"? Ya know, a party to purposely infect your kid with Chicken Pox?My kids are 12 and 9 and STILL have never had chicken pox!
I am worried because I know the older you get the more dangerous it is...plus, school gets more serious as they get older so I would prefer them to miss two weeks of school now while they are young and it's not that important...
A girlfriend of mine has a little girl who just got chicken pox...so should I hold a "Pox Party"?
It's where we get all the kids together and tell them it's a "Party"...but in reality it is to get them to play close together so she infects the others as she is very contagiouis! LOL
Anyone else done this...could you keep a straight face lying to your kids?!

That was the popular thing to do when I was a kid but no, never held one. I've never had chicken pox either and it scares me to think of how it'll be if I do. My kids both got the vaccine (still not sure how I feel about that one)

Yeppers! Im fourteen and its even bad at this age and my mom decided to have a pox party with my two cousins both 4 and 6. Yeah my mom kept a straight face telling our cousins. She just said they were coming over so that i could watch them. Just say that you two are gonna have a playdate with their mom while they have a playdate with the little girl. and just say theyre a whole buncha mosquito bites! Hope this helps!

They were common before the vaccine.
If it were me, I'd just go the vaccine route. Chicken pox is HORRIBLE at 12. I know because that's when I had it. My fever was so high they were going to admit me into the hospital! I was out of school 4 weeks, not 2.
I had blisters on my tongue, in my butt crack (sorry to be gross), my "girl parts" EVERY WHERE! To this day I carry the scars of the ones I had on my eye lids.
Vaccinate!
Get the facts on the chickenpox vaccine, treatment, causes (varicella zoster virus, VZV), symptoms and signs (itchy, red rash).
