my 7 yr.old son just caught chicken pox.I am 10 weeks pregnant.I never have chicken pox.Is my baby at risk?


my 7 yr.old son just caught chicken pox.I am 10 weeks pregnant.I never have chicken pox.Is my baby at risk?I never had chicken pox before.what should i do?if i get infected,Is my baby at risk?

if u got the chicken pox shot to prevent it then u should be fine. but if u dont feel comfortable with it call ur doctor and ask them. congrats and good luck hun.

From what I read online you should see a dr to be safe.

"~ If chicken pox occurs within the first trimester than the risk of birth defects is 0.5-1 percent "

So the chances are very slim, but still get checked to be safe.

Yes you should tell your doctor immediately cause that's my case too and when i was pregnant my doctor kept me away from the child who had chicken pox cause it might affect you and the unborn baby, ask your doctor what to do right away

Go and see your doctor asap. My childs teacher was pregnant when her class all came down with chickenpox. There is stuff that can help reduce the risk, but it has to be started early so make that drs appointment!
