Pregnant and chance of catching chicken pox?

Pregnant and chance of catching chicken pox?Hey I'm 28 weeks pregnant and a guy my husband works with has a bad case of chicken pox, my hubby has had them, but I haven't!!! What will happen if I catch them???
Will it hurt my baby??
The guy has obviously had them a few days and just went to the doctor and found out that was def what he had.
They sent him home and said he couldn't come back until he was over them.

Just stay away from the guy at work. Your husband shouldn't be able to carry it home with him. Make sure he washes his hands before he leaves work and/or after he gets home.

I would ask a doctor...better to be safe than sorry. It can't be for the baby if you get it. It is worse when adults get it.

Good Luck

It could. Most people have already had it by the time they are expecting a child, so I'm not too sure. Make sure he's showering well and you might want to sleep in a different room for a few nights. I'd at least call the ob in the morning and ask a nurse. Chicken pox is way worse when you contract it as an adult, and I know I've heard that if you are around certain chicken pox cousins(rubella, scarlet fever, fifth's disease) while pregnant you are supposed to talk to the doctor.
Good luck!

You definitely want to ask your doctor about this. There is a chicken pox vaccine you can get now but I'm not sure if you can get it while pregnant. Call your doctor and tell them the situation.

Yes, you should talk to the doctor. But to be honest, I don't think it will hurt the baby. My mom's friend had the chicken pox when she was pregnant of one of her children, and the doctor said it was great. That was because now the child would never have chicken pox! Now, I did not hear this from a doctor, but I suppose the Mrs. would have no reason to lie. Good luck! And consult your doctor. Better to be safe than sorry! Have a wonderful pregnancy and may you and your child be safe and healthy. God Bless you!
